The First 24 Hours: Day 10— Yeh Toh Hona Hi Tha!

We all have encountered the situation where we have done something terrible against our mom’s choice and we end up with regrets and her tantrums having “Meri baat nahi sunega toh yeh toh hona hi tha!

In my case though, my mom talks this much that she had covered almost everything in advance(for the motion, against the motion, no motion, out of motion, or any other possible combination). Consequently, whatever happens to us, she had already said it. She calls it her sixth sense, we call it our misfortune(that’s another sad story though xD)

Today morning, I was using my Sunday motivation to clean the room and accidentally found my notes of the times when I started my journey into philosophy and the human mind. Though we all have come a long way, I just felt like sharing it with everyone.

Sixth sense( also known as intuition, inner voice, gut, etc) is one of the most powerful unutilized potentials of mankind. And like any other untold phenomenon, it comes with major misconceptions and stereotypes. I have heard very strange(and funny) statements like the sixth sense is for people with disabilities(specially blind) and/or for animals like dogs(hahaha!). Some people have understood it in a form of supernatural power and for many, it is as useful as the movie Love Aaj Kal 2(if you know, you know xD).

Surprisingly, the bookish knowledge and the general opinion on this matter is highly contradictory. One of the basic takeaway from the book, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” was to trust and learn to hear your inner voice. It not only improves your self-awareness but also helps you with more rational decision making.

Michael Bassey Johnson has rightly quoted that,

“Intelligence is a necessity, but when one is without a supernatural sense, intelligence becomes senseless.”

Another important thing to realize is the very thin line between listening to your gut and believing someone else’s perspective. Like a very common(and relatable) example, if you’re ending your relationship because your best friend doesn’t feel good about it, then you probably need to rethink your decision in your terms(considering “Sab Saanp Hain”, if it helps).

Everything happens for a reason, and no matter how psychologically cliche it may sound but your sixth sense will always guide you to avoid your “yeh toh hona hi tha” moments.

My major takeaway is,

Always trust your gut. It knows what your head hasn’t yet figured out!

So, nothing fancy as of today.

Happy Sundaying!
